CrafTangles August 2018 Blog Hop - Glimmer Paste

Happy Thursday!

The August Blog Hop is underway on the CrafTangles Blog HERE and it's all about glimmer paste!

I have to admit I had a lot of fun playing with this medium and using it in different ways.  I love anything that sparkles as you know so this was right up my street!

For my first card I decided to use a black base that I sprayed with a shimmer mist.  I then used the glimmer paste through the cloud stencil.  As you can see, it dried with a green tint on the black even though it went on white.  I stamped my image and used a couple of my new chameleon pens to colour in the bear then stamped the sentiment on a black card mat.

For my second card, I used the exact same fairy dust glimmer paste as my first card above.  This time through a different stencil to give the impression of waves on a distressed ink backing I created.  You can see how the tint of green that was so apparent on the black is much more subtle and there is more of the white.  Once again I used my chameleon pens on the stamped and fussy cut image and added a sentiment before mounting on to a die cut mat.

For my final card I smooshed distress oxides for the background then added green and orange glimmer paste through stencils.  I added dots to finish and stamped the sentiment before mounting on to a black card base.

I hope you can see just some of the ways glimmer paste can be used as highlights, backgrounds and a focal point.

If you are on the blog hop then here are the other blogs you need to visit in order to win one of 2 goody bags!  Good luck!

Back to School - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

Had a busy week - lots of travel, celebrating Eid and getting stuff done.  Bit late with my posting as had to get haircuts for the boys sorted - can't have them start school with untamed hair now can I?! Ha!

Dawn has chosen back to school as the challenge this week for the Daring Cardmakers.  I noticed that many schools around the world have begun again after the summer holidays.  My boys don't go back until early September so we're spending some quality time with my parents.

My card is a commission for a  science teacher.  The paper pad I used is an absolute favourite of mine as the papers are double sided and are really well thought out and designed.  It includes quotes and you know I love my quotes!  I added wording using my Cricut.

I hope you have a great Bank Holiday Weekend.  I intend to work on some samples for my upcoming Trimcraft demos next weekend.  I'm at The Range in Leicester on Saturday 1 September and West Bromwich on Sunday 2 September.

See you next week,

What's Cooking? - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

This week's Daring Cardmaker is very apt as I spent a lot of time cooking yesterday in readiness for a number of visitors.  My Dad has cousins all over the world and a couple of families from Canada and Australia happened to be in London at the same time so I hosted a bit of a reunion yesterday.  It was a joy hearing all their childhood tales and to see them reminisce.

This week's Challenge has been set by Joanne who has asked for an item of food to be incorporated on our cards as well as extra brownie points for using an item from the kitchen.

I opted for a summer fruit - the strawberry.  I used really old backing papers that have strawberries on too.  All the dies I hadn't used before but had for some time.  I felt quite ashamed it took me so long to use them but I was equally pleased I had!  I didn't use anything from the kitchen for my card but my Team mates have been very imaginative and you can see their makes and join in with the challenge HERE.

I hope you have a really good weekend whatever you do.

See you again soon!

Let's Go Nautical! - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It seems so strange missing my weekly blog post - I didn't realise how regular I'd become with my blogging.  I have been having some well deserved family time as my brother and family were visiting from America.  We've had so much fun and made a lot of memories but I miss them a great deal.

Being as we shared some fun times by the sea I decided to opt for a nautical theme for the Daring Cardmakers challenge this week.  The Design Team have made a wonderful variety of creations which you can see HERE.

For my card, I decided to use up parts of a pack from a cardmaking magazine I got a long time ago.  It's something I kept thinking I'd use it but never got round to it.  I do love a good sentiment and this one was perfect for the recipient.  I based my card around it, building it up as I went along with various die cut elements.

I hope you'll join in with the Challenge and see you again soon!
