Mother's Day Cards using CrafTangles products

Happy Weekend!

I can't believe it's only a week to Mother's Day and I've not made my Mum a card yet!  I'd better get crafting hadn't I?!  Before I do, I wanted to share some Mother's Day cards I've made using some of the recent CrafTangles releases.

All the cards are made using the Hug Me stamp set containing 3 cute animals with banners that come with a variety of sentiments.  For my first card, I used the CrafTangles Vintage Rosette paper pad for the background and fussy cut some of the roses from it to add to my die cut wreath.

The rabbit was coloured in using my Zig Clean Color Brush markers.

Next up, I chose a bright background from the CrafTangles Sweet Love paper pad and this time I paper pieced the scarf on the cat to co-ordinate with the rest of the card.

I used a couple of grey shades of Zig markers to give the cat some stripes.  I added a very useful Mother's Day stamp from a previous CrafTangles release together with some die cuts to finish.

For my final card, I got my stencils out and used a brick one to create a wall, adding darker shading so it looked like a hole with the dog peeking out.

I added die cut lettering and a few hearts to finish.  I'm sure you'll agree it's such a cute stamp set and one I can see myself using a lot in the future.

I'm feeling a little sorry for myself this weekend as I have a cold, passed on by my lovely boys.  It's a good job I haven't had any commitments so I can stay at home.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Shabneez

Stitch It! - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's my turn to host the challenge on the Daring Cardmakers this week and I have chosen to 'Stitch It!'.  I'd like you to incorporate stitching in any way on your card be it real or faux!  You can see lots more inspiration from the Design Team HERE.

This is actually one of the Show samples I did for the We R Memory Keepers Stitch Happy Pen Show on Create & Craft.  It was the last sample I did and so I wanted to incoporate a couple of the templates - in this case the 'hello' and the leaf together with some free hand sewing to see how easy it was.

With the templates in the kit you have to trace through them then stitch.  With the freehand stitching at the bottom I made a basic pattern but I didn't want to go to the effort of drawing so I just did some straight lines and it was really quick and easy to do.

Above you can see a close up of one of the leaves which was a template and I have sealed it with sticker paper to stop the stitches from unravelling underneath before cutting it out.

I'd definitely recommend using the Stitch Happy Pen with 2 sheets of card stuck together in order to get the best result.  I found if I was using a single sheet, no matter how thick the weight of the card the pen would bend my card through the square or I'd get huge holes as the pen would go through too easily.

Have a great weekend whatever you do.  I'm at The Range in St Albans this Sunday with the latest Trimcraft collections.

CrafTangles Wanderlust Papers With A Twist

Happy Tuesday!

How's your week been so far?  Has the snow stayed away?  It's been chilly my end but the sun has made up for it - having said that, it is wet and very windy today!

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog today with a beautiful new paper pad called Wanderlust.  As you can imagine from the title it's a travel themed paper pad but it incorporates some stunning florals as well.

For my first card I went all out on the travel theme and made a postcard using one of the papers which I cut to size then used glimmer paste through a stencil to create the 'Carta Postale'.  I stuck this on another of the papers and fussy cut some images as decoupage.

I went around the sentiment and postcard with distress ink sofly to create a more vintage look.

For my next card I chose a fresh, floral paper and used my favourite fairy dust glimmer paste through a leaf stencil to get a textured background.

I decoupaged the camera in the top left corner and added a sentiment to finish.

For my final card I used a damask stencil on a predominantly Italian themed page.  The damask just made me think of the embroidery and material prints I'd seen when I'd travelled around parts of Italy.

To soften the black gesso I'd used through the stencil I added some copper art wax.  I love the sentiment on this on - Take Me Anywhere!

See you again later on in the week,

Mad March Hare - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

Have you missed me?!  Even though I only missed a week of blogging it feels like forever.......I've had a lot of work on and many miles of travel so it's been a bit tiring.

Joanne has set the challenge this week for the Daring Cardmakers and has chosen the Mad March Hare as her title.  She'd like to see a rabbit or a hare on your creation or even some form of hair would do........  There is a lot of inspiration from my fellow DT members HERE.

I've gone down the cute route using a Darice cut and emboss die for the rabbit.   In fact all the dies are Darice and the 'Celebrate' has been cut out of gold glitter card.  The heart aperture that I turned into a balloon by drawing the string has been filled with a bead mix.

I think the embossing really gives the rabbit definition on the ears and back, don't you?  A simple shaker creation but it's a definite favourite of mine.

I have a Sunday off before another Trimcraft demo next week which I am very much looking forward to.

See you again on Tuesday!
