99 Balloons - Daring Card Makers DT

Happy Friday!

Not one but two blog posts in a week - not sure what happened there?!!!  I'm up on the Daring Cardmakers blog today where the theme is '99 Balloons'.  Now even I couldn't manage that many but with a little masking I managed to add some extra balloons to my stamped image.

I've used a favourite Time for Tea Designs Stamp set that has an adorable array of cats on it and one just happened to be holding balloons.  I coloured in the image using my Chameleon pens.  Being as the cat was going to hold a fair few balloons, I decided to do a sky background using a stencil and distress inks to show the cat floating in the air.

For the balloons I decided to use my new Nuvo Jewel drops as they dry transculent and give a realistic look to them.  It was a little challenging to take a decent photo but you can see the raised effect created above.

I heat embossed the sentiment from the same stamp set in white and matted and layered on black card to finish.

You can see a lot more inspiration for the challenge by my fellow DT HERE so I hope you'll join in and we look forward to seeing all your balloon themed cards!

I'm teaching tomorrow and on Sunday I can look forward to my son's birthday party.  He's ever so excited!

Enjoy your weekend and see you again next week,

How To Use Stencils with Liquid Watercolours - CrafTangles DT

Happy Wednesday!

The boys have gone back to school and it's so quiet in the house.  I do miss them.  We had a really good break, taking the opportunity to recharge our batteries whilst catching up wth friends and family.

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog today using liquid watercolours with stencils.  I'd never thought to use this combination before, probably because I tend to rely on inks with my stencils!

I truly enjoyed creating these cards as when I first started out I didn't know what I'd accomplish.  It was exciting lifting the stencil to see the creation - doesn't take a lot does it?!

First up, I used the Dream Big stencil and a few colours of inks.  I managed to create a slight ombre effect with the lettering from dark to light blue then added splashes of yellow and pink.

I finished the card by adding Tonic Nuvo drops which I treated myself to from the Create & Craft Birthday event.  I absolutely love the shades and the texture you can create with them.

Next I used just 2 colours of liquid watercolours and painted through a corner of the Net Lace stencil.

The effect that was created reminded me of tie and dye.  I spattered egglant watercolour to finish and die cut a part of it to stick on my card.  I added some washi tape and a sentiment to finish.

For my final creation I remembered to take a photo of my creation before I took the stencil off!

From this you can see how I've taped down the watercolour card onto my glass mat and used the left over colours on my mat to make this creation.

Being such a fan of rainbow colours, I couldn't bear to cut this one up other than to matt it on to black card to make it pop.  I added a die cut sentiment to finish.  It's definitely my favourite of the three.  So tell me, which do you like the most?

Enjoy the rest of your week,
Shabneez

Bingo - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

The Easter holidays are in full swing and despite the odd shower here and there we've happily been making the most of it.  In fact we're off on a day out today complete with picnic so hope the rain stays away!

Dawn has set a great challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers this week.  Her Mum recently celebrated a big birthday and she loves Bingo so she made up a Cardmaking Bingo Board.

Below you'll see the Bingo Board and you have to use any 3 elements from a line or use everything for a full house!  Isn't it fun?!
I went for the far left column and used sequins, stamping and made a clean and simple card.

For my creation, I used a favourite Time for Tea Designs stamp set together with the co-ordinating stencil set.  I used distress oxides through the stencil in a couple of colours and added silver sequins.  It took me longer deciding and placing the sequins than it did making the rest of the card!  Mad isn't it?!

The mermaid was coloured in using Chameleon pens and colour tops to blend the colours.  I actually made the card for my niece who celebrates her birthday later this month.

I do hope you'll join in with the challenge and you can see plenty of inspiration from my team mates HERE.

Have a wonderful weekend - we have a birthday party to go to so it should be a fun one for us!

Watercolour Backgrounds - CrafTangles April Challenge Inspiration

Happy Weekend!

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog with a selection of cards made using their liquid watercolours which are very vibrant.  I had a lot of fun making the backgrounds and watching the colours amalgamate was mesmerizing.

For my first card I used Soul Mate, Autumn Blaze and Lemon Tart to create the background and heat embossed a stamp in black.  I matted on to a black background and stamped a sentiment to finish.

Next up I used Lemon Tart, Evergreen and Poolside to create the background but then covered most of it up with a reverse scalloped circle die!  I did some dry embossing with a stencil to add a little more texture before adding die cut butterflies and a sentiment cut from the background.

For my final card I used Grape Jelly, Ripe Plums and Soul Mate to create the background and added a die cut dandelion and heat embossed sentiment.

All these cards are inspiration for the CrafTangles April Challenge in which all you need to do is use water colours in your projects!  You can find more information HERE.

I hope you have a great weekend whatever you do and if you happen to be in Hemel Hamstead I will be doing a Trimcraft demo on Sunday from 11am at The Range which has just opened there!

See you again soon,
