Whatever The Weather! - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

Kathy has chosen a very apt weather themed challenge for the Daring Cardmakers this week being as we've been having such a heatwave here in England!  The boys and I have been venuring out but doing a lot of indoor activites as we don't last long outside unless it's water related of course.

This week's challenge is sponsored by Julia of JMC designs.  I've used one of her digi stamps which is called Sunshine and Showers.  I've coloured in the image using my Chameleon pens and used bright papers for the background.  The sentiment stamp goes so well and is a favourite from CrafTangles.

You can win one of two prizes if you enter this week's challenge and design a weather themed card.  In order to qualify please ensure you mention www.jmcdesigns.co.uk on your blog post.  Lots more inspiration from my fellow DT HERE.  Good luck!

I'm hoping to visit my parents this weekend and stay a while as it's been ages!

Have a lovely weekend,

Have A Prickly Summer - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

Week one of the summer holidays was fun and a lot of it was due to the good weather we have been having - so lots of outdoor fun.

Over on the Daring Cardmakers, Miri has set the challenge this week and an apt one for this time of year.  She wants to see a cactus or cacti on your cards this week.  For me this meant using a freebie stamp from a magazine that I hadn't used before.  It's good when free stamps actually get utilised.  I also realised that I hadn't shared any of my teacher cards this time round and so I made one especially for the challenge that I can keep in my box for next year being as my boys broke up for the summer last week.

This time I used my Catherine Pooler ink pads to create a simple watercolour background and colour in the image using my waterbrush.  I think it's quite effective, don't you?  You can see lots more inspiration from my fellow DT members HERE and I hope you'll join in.

I'm having a catch up with work this weekend as I have spent a lot of time with the boys during the week so have fallen behind a little.  At least it'll give their Dad a chance to spend some quality time with them!

Have a wonderful weekend whatever you do,

Wedding Season - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

The summer holidays have begun and it's wonderful not having to schedule my day around school runs!  I must tell you about my very emotional week though.  It is my eldest son's last year at his Primary School and this week saw me watching his last Sports Day and attending a wonderful Leavers Assembly where I shed some tears (but don't tell anyone!).  He is sad to leave his friends as he is going to a different school to them but he will of course keep in touch.  He is very excited to start Senior School in September.

On with what I'm supposed to be blogging about and that is the latest challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers which is wedding themed.  Surprisingly I haven't had to make a wedding card this year so far.  However, I did have a commission for a special anniversary card earlier in the week which will be winging its way to Hong Kong so I thought I'd share that!

I predominantly used an old Hunkydory kit I had in my stash that I won for having my card published in a magazine many years ago.  Of course, I couldn't make an anniversary card without using hearts so I used a mix of punched and die cut ones.

You can see a lot more inspiration from the Design Team HERE and I hope you'll join in!

I've another busy weekend - a presentation tomorrow morning for the boys and a family lunch to prepare for on Sunday.

I hope you have a great weekend whatever you do,

July Elemental Challenge - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy July!

It's been a great week full of sunshine and creativity along with a very memorable Prize Giving for the boys which we attended earlier in the week.  The last scheduled school Sports Day was cancelled due to rain but hopefully the one on Monday will go ahead as the forecast looks to be dry and the boys are looking forward to it.

As it's the first Friday of the month, it's an elemental challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers and I have decided to incorporate the latest Sweet Dixie Time for Tea collection in my post as it fits perfectly.

I made a slight twist on an easel card so it looked more like a table and after matting and layering my papers I die cut a doily die as the base for which to stand my very fancy cup and tea pot.  Of course I had to add a silver spoon too!  The card folds flat for posting and it'll be winging its way to my Mum who is a big tea lover.  The dies are all on Pick of The Week on Create & Craft this week and I was fortunate to make some show samples as well which have been aired.

Below you can see how I have chosen the teapot, the cornflower blue, the spoon and the gingham as my elements from the photo chosen by Dawn.

You can see more inspiration HERE and I hope that you'll join in with this fun challenge.

I have Parent Meetings to prepare for tomorrow and a lot of work so I think it'll be a busy weekend for me!

Enjoy your weekend whatever you do!
