My Superhero - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Happy Friday!

The boys are back at school.  My eldest has gone on a trip staying away for 2 nights and his little brother cried when he left.  It's odd but it's so quiet without him and I do miss him a lot.  He's back today so I'm going to cook his favourite for dinner!

The Challenge on the Daring Cardmakers blog today is an apt one.  Superheroes.  My boys are definitely my superheroes.  I made this card for my eldest son.  After we went to see Lego Batman we had a standing joke where he would say in his Batman voice "I'm Batman!" and myself or his younger brother would say "I'm not!".

It's a simple card and I used Silhouette files for the oval and the bat which I cut out of black glitter card stock because you know I like my glitz!  I finished off with a First Edition Alphabet die for the lettering cut in gold card.

There's some wonderful inspiration by my fellow DT members on the blog and I hope you'll pop by and take on the dare.  I love seeing all your creations!

I hope you have a great Bank Holiday weekend!

Five Patterned Papers! - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Happy Friday!

It's been a wonderful final full week of the Easter holidays. My Dad has been to stay and we managed to do various activities to include the park, feeding the ducks, a visit to Greenwich, the Emirates Cable Car and the o2 Arena.  I am totally deflated after that lot but it was such fun!

On to the Daring Cardmakers Challenge this week. The dare this week was set by Miri who requested we use at least 5 different patterned papers from our scrap box with a bonus if they were Spring related. Well, I jumped at this one. I've been using the Dovecraft Blooming Beautiful paper pad for my demos and I had a lot of scraps so I set to work making my version of a sunburst card with the scraps.

The papers in this collection are vibrant and all coordinate so well.  I used a wooden frame, sentiment sticker and pretty paper roses from the same collection to complete my card.

You can see my fellow DT members' creations HERE.  I hope you'll join in as I'd love to see what you come up with.

Enjoy your weekend!

Spring Garden - Daring Cardmakers

Happy Friday!

I've been fortunate to spend some quality time with my parents as it's the holidays. It's wonderful to take it easy and recharge those batteries. I'll be travelling back home tomorrow so hopefully the traffic won't be too bad.  Nothing worse than hearing "are we there yet?" every few minutes!

The theme set by Kathy for the Daring Cardmakers this week is aptly named Spring Garden.  I've chosen hyacinths as I have a number of flower stamp sets from Sarah Hurley's Beautiful Botanicals range.

I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks to watercolour the flowers and the background. It was simply bliss sitting at my table painting. I am in a world of my own when I create and I love it.

Before I go I must thank those of you who took part in the Challenge last week. It made me so happy to see you join in and I hope you'll have a go with this one too, especially with the long weekend! You can see more inspiration from my fellow team members HERE.

Enjoy your Easter weekend,

April Challenge - Daring Cardmakers

Happy Friday!

The first Challenge of every month for the Daring Cardmakers is an Elemental one.  This time it was set by Nat and you'll see the photo we had to choose elements from further down my post.

I used a couple of sheets from The Little Book of Vintage Lace and added epoxy stickers and pearls that I'd had in my stash for such a long time.  I'm sure as crafters we all have unused stash and I'm on a mission to try and use it!

I also found a paper flower that went well together with leaves and a mini doily to go with the vintage theme of the card.

Below is the April Elemental Challenge photo and I used the colours, flowers, bird and leaves on my card.

I hope that you'll join in with the Challenge HERE.

Enjoy your weekend!
