Inky Backgrounds - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

How are you? Lots of flags and bunting on our street today to commemorate VE Day.   The boys are waiting for the Red Arrows that are due to fly over but unsure if we'll see them.

Rizwana has set her first challenge this week on the Daring Cardmakers and she's asked to see inky backgrounds.  I absolutely loved making the background for my card and am so pleased with the way it turned out as I hadn't used paint this way before.  I'm always so reliant on inks so thought it about time I used the paints I had stuck in a drawer.

I realised I have so few flower stamps (odd I know) so I treated myself to a set on sale which is designed by Tracy Evans for Aall & Create.  In fact, I have been inspired by her many tutorials on You Tube which I have been following.

I used a brayer with the paints to start off with, added distress oxide around the edges and distress ink through a stencil.  I used a plastic tube to make the circles of ink and lots of spatters in white and metallic gold.  I love a bit of glimmer as you know.

I cut the flower out a couple of times and layered it then added a sequin mix to the centre to finish.  I love the sentiment 'Take Each Day One Step At A Time'.  I think it's a really appropriate sentiment in light of our current situation.

Have a lovely long weekend,

Feeling Blue - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy New Year!

How are you? It feels like such a long time since I last blogged but a lot has happened since my last post.  December was manic with work commitments and commissions then as soon as the school holidays began we went on a much needed family break to Rome.  It was absolutely wonderful - fabulous weather, delicious food and stunning historical sites.

The boys are back to school now and I only started crafting again earlier this week.  In fact this is the first card I've made this year!  Being the beginning of a new month it's the elemental challenge on the Daring Cardmakers and it's entitled 'Feeling Blue' and is paying homage to the 2020 Panetone Colour of the Year.

I chose my Zig Clean Color Pens to colour my flower and it was just so relaxing.  I do miss colouring when I haven't done it for a while.  I used a stencil with distress inks for my background and added a sentiment to finish.  A simple one to start the year I think!

Here is the image from which you need to choose at least 3 elements.  I chose the flower, colours and tile style background.

You can find lots more inspiration from my fellow DT members HERE.  Hope you'll join in!

Have a great weekend and see you again soon!

Make It Spooky! - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

Half term is in full swing and we are having a lot of fun.  We have a couple of things booked for this afternoon but I am in the office for a couple of hours this morning before we head out.

It's my turn to host the Daring Cardmakers challenge and being as it's nearing Halloween I have gone with a spooky theme or if you have nothing Halloween related in your stash then how about using Halloween colours?

My distress inks came out again as I can't stop playing with them and once I created a spooky background I used a stencil to add a few stars.  The rest of my card is all die cuts and I arranged them to make a scene.

I thought the bats were rather cute and to add a little fun I didn't stick their wings down to make them look as thought they were flying.  You can see more inspiration from the Design Team HERE and I hope you'll join in.

If you happen to be in Watford this weekend I will be demonstrating at The Range there this Sunday from 11am and I'll be in Romford next Sunday.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Shabneez
