Umbrella - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

We managed to get some work done in the garden last weekend but sadly our lawn mower has now died.  So I need to research and find another so we can get the front garden finished.

Kathy has set the latest challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers this week and it has an umbrella theme to it.  Lucky for me I had a Clearly Besotted set that came free with one of the magazines and I got to use the new paper pad I won from Craft Consortium too!

I've always loved rainbow colours and since I was a child I would organise my pens in rainbow order which I still do to this day!  So I went with a rainbow coloured umbrella using the die set that came with the magazine.

The only additional items I used were grass and cloud dies from an old Sizzix set and a little bling from my stash!

Paper Piecing with CrafTangles Products

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog HERE with a tutorial on paper piecing.  As soon as I got my last DT package I knew that the pretty plaid papers would work well with the Hello Baby Stamp.

The first card I've kept quite simple as I wanted to show the technique for paper piecing and I have a step by step tutorial on the CrafTangles blog.  This is where you stamp on the cardstock then on paper and cut out pieces and stick on to the main image.

I've added both wooden and punched stars to finish, together with the sentiment.

For the second card, I've used the same image but paper pieced the bear so it looks like it's wearing a sleep suit - I had the image in my head......

I've added stitched border dies and two sizes of clouds to this one together with the sentiment.

For my final card, I've gone all out and paper pieced a lot of the image in different coloured papers.

I think the sentiment is just so cute - don't you?

I might be back tomorrow but I'm not quite sure as I haven't actually made anything for it yet and it would help..........I suppose you'll just have to wait and see - haha!

October Elemental Challenge - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's the first Friday in October which can only mean one thing - the start of the Elemental Challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog, this time set by Leo.

I have a special card duo to share for an adorable set of twins which fits the Challenge so well!  I was asked by a friend to make similar but not the same 1st birthday cards incorporating, wait for it.......unicorns and rainbows! I was able to use a  new die set and I just had to add a touch of glitter to to give an extra sparkle.

Here is the photo from which you have to choose 3 elements.  I think there's something for everyone in here so no excuse for not joining in - ha!  

From the elements above I chose the wording unicorn and rainbows as well as the colours.  You'll find lots more inspiration on the Daring Cardmakers Blog HERE.
