Frida Kahlo/Mexican - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It was odd when I read the title of this week's Daring Cardmakers challenge as for the past 2 weeks my little one has been learning about the life and work of Frida Kahlo in his Art lessons and I had been listening intently.  Mexico always conjures up images of bright, bold colours which I love so you might need your sunglasses to see my creation today! Ha!!!

I didn't even know that toucans were native to Southern Mexico until Google told me - the power of Google!!!  Of course I had the perfect stamp set in mind and I began by creating the background using my distress inks through a stencil.

My image was stamped, die cut and coloured with my Chamelon pens and I added glitter to the party hat and glossy accents to the beak.

You can see a lot more inspiration from my fellow DT HERE and I hope you will join in with this fun challenge!

It's an exciting week for me in the blog world next week with lots going on so watch this space!

Have a lovely weekend,
Shabneez

April 2020 Elemental Challenge - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

My eldest son celebrated his birthday this week and it was odd having a lock down birthday but we made it as special as we could with family Face Time and a home made chocolate orange birthday cake among other treats.

As it's the first Friday of the month the Daring Cardmakers have an Elemental Challenge that I have chosen.

I'm still on my mission to brighten people's social media feed and so I've made a cheerful card that has elements of Spring on it.

I've created a masked stencil background and added my Time for Tea Design stamped images that I've coloured with my Chameleon pens and fussy cut.

I added some die cut grass to give a little texture and some die cut flowers in the grass to finish!

Below is the mood board from which you need to choose at least 3 elements (colours count as 1).  I chose the scalloped background, colours, rabbit and flowers.  The question is what will you choose?!  You can see lots more inspiration from the Design Team HERE.

Have a lovely weekend whatever you do.  I'm hoping to make a start on the garden.

See you next week,
Shabneez
