Father's Day Card - CrafTangles June Challenge Inspiration

Happy Wednesday!

I rarely schedule posts but I have on this occassion as I will be celebrating the festival of Eid with my family!  Eid is celebrated to mark the end of the month of fasting for Muslims.  We're very much looking forward to celebrating with family we don't see very often.

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog today with some inspiration for the June challenge which has an Anything Goes theme.

I love vibrant colours and the latest Simon Hurley inks were what I used for the coloured sentiments. I decided to combine them with CrafTangles stamps and liquid water colour for the spots on the dogs.

I have a step by step photo tutorial over on the CrafTangles blog HERE if you're interested in learning more.  I hope you'll join in too!

After many weeks of working weekends I have one off before my final Trimcraft demos in Stevenage on 16 June and Hemel Hempstead on 23 June.

See you again soon,

Contemporary Watercolour Floral Eid Collection - CrafTangles DT

Happy Wednesday!

It's not long until Eid now so I thought I'd make a few more cards for family, friends and neighbours using CrafTangles products.  I tend to find Eid cards can be quite traditional and I wanted to veer away from that and make a fresh, modern batch.

I was able to do this using the range of CrafTangles flower stamps which I absolutely love as they can be adapted for any occassion.

Throughout my time on the CrafTangles DT I have seen my team mates make card sets using similar products with a few changes in colour or image.  I thought I'd have a go at this as I hadn't before and it worked out well!

I wanted tthe stamping to appear softer which doesnt work using black ink so I used grey on all the cards including the sentiment.

I really enjoyed colouring in the flowers with the watercolours as they are vibrant and yet with water you can get so many more shades.  I blended a couple of colours on both the flowers and the leaves.

My Trimcraft demonstration cycle is continuing and I will be at The Range in Enfield from 11am this Sunday.

Have a wonderful day!

How To Use Stencils with Liquid Watercolours - CrafTangles DT

Happy Wednesday!

The boys have gone back to school and it's so quiet in the house.  I do miss them.  We had a really good break, taking the opportunity to recharge our batteries whilst catching up wth friends and family.

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog today using liquid watercolours with stencils.  I'd never thought to use this combination before, probably because I tend to rely on inks with my stencils!

I truly enjoyed creating these cards as when I first started out I didn't know what I'd accomplish.  It was exciting lifting the stencil to see the creation - doesn't take a lot does it?!

First up, I used the Dream Big stencil and a few colours of inks.  I managed to create a slight ombre effect with the lettering from dark to light blue then added splashes of yellow and pink.

I finished the card by adding Tonic Nuvo drops which I treated myself to from the Create & Craft Birthday event.  I absolutely love the shades and the texture you can create with them.

Next I used just 2 colours of liquid watercolours and painted through a corner of the Net Lace stencil.

The effect that was created reminded me of tie and dye.  I spattered egglant watercolour to finish and die cut a part of it to stick on my card.  I added some washi tape and a sentiment to finish.

For my final creation I remembered to take a photo of my creation before I took the stencil off!

From this you can see how I've taped down the watercolour card onto my glass mat and used the left over colours on my mat to make this creation.

Being such a fan of rainbow colours, I couldn't bear to cut this one up other than to matt it on to black card to make it pop.  I added a die cut sentiment to finish.  It's definitely my favourite of the three.  So tell me, which do you like the most?

Enjoy the rest of your week,
Shabneez

Watercolour Backgrounds - CrafTangles April Challenge Inspiration

Happy Weekend!

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog with a selection of cards made using their liquid watercolours which are very vibrant.  I had a lot of fun making the backgrounds and watching the colours amalgamate was mesmerizing.

For my first card I used Soul Mate, Autumn Blaze and Lemon Tart to create the background and heat embossed a stamp in black.  I matted on to a black background and stamped a sentiment to finish.

Next up I used Lemon Tart, Evergreen and Poolside to create the background but then covered most of it up with a reverse scalloped circle die!  I did some dry embossing with a stencil to add a little more texture before adding die cut butterflies and a sentiment cut from the background.

For my final card I used Grape Jelly, Ripe Plums and Soul Mate to create the background and added a die cut dandelion and heat embossed sentiment.

All these cards are inspiration for the CrafTangles April Challenge in which all you need to do is use water colours in your projects!  You can find more information HERE.

I hope you have a great weekend whatever you do and if you happen to be in Hemel Hamstead I will be doing a Trimcraft demo on Sunday from 11am at The Range which has just opened there!
