Black And White Plus One - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's my turn to host the challenge on the Daring Cardmakers this week and I have chosen a black and white plus one other colour theme.  I tend to use black ink the most and white card so I thought it would be fun to add just one other colour.

I printed out and fussy cut digi images which I won from Isabel Cristina who has an etsy shop.  Her designs are wonderful and it was so difficult to make a choice.

Instead of colouring in the images I thought I would stencil over them instead to give a different look and then I added some Nuvo Drops to add a little texture.

You can see more inspiration from the rest of the Design Team HERE and I hope you'll join in.

Have a great weekend,

October Elemental Challenge - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy October!

I can't believe it's already October - it'll soon be the end of the year at this rate!

As it's the first Friday in the month the Daring Cardmakers have their elemental challenge and I really enjoyed putting together this happy card using, papers, ephemera, ink, stamp set and a stencil!

I began by choosing my ephemera using both the plain plants and one with a happy face on.  I cut the front panel of the paper pad which had the swatch of the papers on to fit my 6" square card blank.  I used ink and a blender brush to lightly go through a stencil and make the background.  I then stuck all the elements down to include a die cut happy birthday and some pearls.

The plant in the middle looks very happy so I had to stamp an additional sentiment as I'm sure it would make the recipient smile as it did me!

This is the picture from which you choose at least 3 elements  - colours being one.  I went for the plants, the rectangle strip on the side and the herringbone from the carpet.

Have a good weekend and see you again next week,

Bear Hugs & Donuts

Happy Wednesday!

After making this card yesterday I'm actually craving doughnuts!  I must admit I'm not so fond of the colourful glazed ones but am definitely partial to a sugared one.  How about you?

I've had a doughnut card in my head for a long time as I wanted to incorporate the stamped bear holding the doughnut.  The bear and doughnut were coloured with my Chameleon pens and I added some glossy accents to the little doughnut to add a sheen.

I bought the Splish Splash stencil from the new release last week as I thought it would be versatile and it is!  I used it to ink through my doughnut with the stencil and distress oxide ink that started reacting in the heat so I got quite a realistic glaze!  I added Tonic Nuvo drops for sprinkles.  Distress oxide inks work really well on coloured cardstock as the ink sits on the card as opposed to getting absorbed into it like with Distress inks.

I hope you enjoyed this post and see you again later on in the week!

May Elemental Challenge - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

I can't believe it's May already can you?  For me the days seem to be flying by, more so as we are fasting at the moment.

It's the start of the Elemental Challenge on the Daring Cardmakers and I decided to use a different medium and go with my Chameleon pencils to colour in my image.  They are easy to use as they have a similar colour on either side which makes blending a breeze!  It was certainly therapeutic.

I used a Time for Tea Designs stencil for the background and distress oxide through it.  I then stamped directly on to it with an old Floral stamp set by Stamps By Me.  As it was a light colour background I was able to add shading with my pencils without any issue.  I didn't add a sentiment as to be honest I couldn't decide on one!

This is the picture chosen by Dawn from which you need to pick any 3 elements - colours count as one.  I chose flowers, squares and colours.  You can see more inspiration from the Design Team HERE and I hope you'll join in as we love seeing your creations.

Have a lovely weekend and see you next week,

Hooray for Hamsters! - Time for Tea Designs DT

Happy Wednesday!

I'm taking a break from all the Mother's Day commissions with some Time for Tea Design Hampsters!  Aren't they just the cutest?!

I've used the new Diamonds Are Forever stencil as a background and simply inked through with a little distress oxide and my blender brush.  I die cut the letters from the Hooray die set using the Rainbow Brights paper pad.

I coloured in my hamsters using my Chameleon markers and die cut them as it makes it so much easier.

If you're interested in buying any of the products I have used you can get 10% off anything in the shop HERE by using the code T4TSHABNEEZ10.

Take A Flying Leap! - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

How's your week been?  I've been playing catch up after half term and it's gone rather well so I'm happy.

Over on the Daring Cardmakers, Svenja has set the challenge this week to use anything that leaps on your creations.  Of course, the first thing that sprang to my mind was rabbits!

I thought the Time for Tea Designs stamp set Hip Hop Hooray was perfect for this and challenge and I've teamed it up with a Birthday Sentiment Die and a very useful stencil.  I began by making the background using distress oxide  inks and the Sunnyside Up stencil.  I coloured in the images with my Chameleon Markers and fussy cut them out before deciding where to place them.

I think the card has a really warm feel to it - just what you need for this time of year!  What do you think?

Lots more inspiration from the rest of the DT HERE and I hope you'll join in.

I'll be back tomorrow with a Time for Tea Designs Instagram Hop where you will have a chance to win £55 worth of products.

Bye for now!
