Clean & Simple With a Dash of Sparkle - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's odd as it doesn't seem like a Bank Holiday weekend does it?  The days really are all rolling into each other.  So, from a neighbourhood perspective we have been tasked to make an egg for our windows so the children can do an Easter Egg hunt.  That's on my to do list with the boys this morning.

Dawn has set the challenge for the Daring Cardmakers this week and she'd like to see clean and simple with some sparkle.

I must admit I wasn't sure about this one.  Now, I'm not afraid of white space on a card in the slightest but I was soooooo tempted to add a little bit more but then refrained!  I did use some products which I bought some time back and hadn't used so this was a good opportunity to use them.

I die cut a tag and then stamped clouds on it using distress oxide inks to give texture.  I then stamped, cut and coloured my birds using my Chameleon pens.  To finish I die cut a balloon heart from glitter card for the sparkle element and added some twine.

I hope you'll join in with this challenge this week and you can see lots more inspiration HERE.

See you again next week,

Recycle! - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

Did you clap from your front door for the remarkable job the NHS employees are doing last night?  We did together with the rest of our street and the community spirit in spite of all that's going on was so heart warming!  So the special thanks on my card is not only for the NHS workers but for all those front line workers who risk their lives to make ours easier.

The Daring Cardmakers would like to see you use recycling on your creations this week and I have used some kraft packaging from batteries.  I also recycled the back of a birthday card to create an oval frame.

I used the Trimcraft First Edition Bloom & Wonder pad for the background and fussy cut the main bloom as well as the leaves and a butterfly.  The grey oval frame I die cut out of a used birthday card.

The leaf dies were a lovely surprise gift from a friend so I had to use them!  I cut them out with glitter card to add a little bling.

I hope you have a good weekend, I am looking forward to the Easter holidays.

See you soon,
Shabneez

Gift Tags, Toppers and Labels - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

How's your week been?  I have a list longer than my arm today but I am determined to get as much done as possible.  The boys have gone dressed to school in spots to raise money for Children In Need.  It was a welcome sight seeing all the brightly dressed children this morning - just what I needed to cheer me up on a wet and miserable day.

Today is the first of the Step Away from the Cards challenge set by the Daring Cardmakers before Christmas.  This week's challenge is to come up with a gift tag, topper or label.   I decided on a tag.  I had some packaging lying around for recycling so I thought I'd start with that and die cut a tag.  I love the texture corrugated card gives.  I went over the card with inks - you can just about see the gold and the burgundy around the edges just to make it pop a little.

My tag continued to be made up using items I had on the table.  I was in the midst of clearing up but then decided I had better get this done so used what I had out.  I had been working with my Go Press and Foil machine so had a sentiment ready.  I added a die cut tree backing onto a shiny gold doily.

My next layer was a wooden frame and finally I added a wooden tree embellishment on which I went over with the edges with some ink.  To finish I had kept a gold tassel on the table thinking I could use it at some point and it worked well don't you agree?  I hope you'll join in with the Challenge - more details and inspiration HERE.

I'm off to tick this blog post off my to-do list - it's so satisfying seeing those ticks build up!

Have a lovely weekend and see you again soon.
