Shamrock Ovals Die Set - Tonic Studios

Happy Thursday!

I feel like it's been a while since I blogged and I'm sure it has been.  I've had a lot on and the blogging wasn't a priority but I am back!

Today I thought I'd share a couple of cards I made using the Shamrock Ovals Die Set from Tonic Studios.  My affiliate links, with thanks are here:

UK & Europe - HERE

USA - HERE

A lovely die set that you can use in a number of ways.  For my first card I opted to make a gap card and cut the dies out in black then added stamped flowers and a sentiment.

I finished it off with some twine.  I opted to leave the flowers as they were with no colouring and I think it works well.

For my next card I die cut the ovals in different colours to compliment the Mulberry Wine Paper pad.  I layered the ovals in the middle and added my sentiment.

I added a fussy cut flower from the paper pad to finish.

See you again tomorrow,

In The Frame - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

Colds all around at the moment in our household, which is no fun.  As we are all at different stages, team work is helping to ensure we take care of each other.

I love the theme of the Daring Cardmakers challenge this week - frames.  I'm a huge fan of them and use them a lot so this one was right up my street!

I hadn't used my florals in a while so inked up a lily stamp and used my watercolour palette to add colour.  I went on to create a subtle stencilled background before making a frame for it.

I finished with a simple strip of white card on which I stamped the sentiment.

You can see lots more inspiration from the rest of the Design Team HERE and I hope you will join in.

Have a great weekend and see you next week,

All Tied Up - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's been a a fabulous week so far with celebrating my little one's birthday, half term and the icing on the cake - a visit from my Dad!

The Daring Cardmakers are all 'Tied Up' this week as Kathy has set the challenge to use some form of thread, twine, wool etc on your cards.  I decided to go for Baker's Twine which is ever so useful and I enjoy making use of it.

I have used the First Edition Bloom & Wonder paper pad and the monochrome paper is my absolute favourite from the pad!  I've teamed it with a fussy cut butterfly and foliage from the same pad together with a sentiment, leaf sprigs and squares cut from the First Edition Digital Die Cuts USBs.

I think you can just make out the sparkle from the black Dovecraft A5 Premium Adhesive Glitter Card that I used to cut out the leaves and the sentiment.  It was a time saver for sure, especially for the sentiment as I didn't have to use glue!

You can find lots more inspiration for the challenge HERE.

Enjoy your weekend and see you again soon,

Special Thoughts - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

I've had a very productive week and the hightlight was a speech made by the Head of my youngest's school on the difficulties of parenting today.  In particular he mentioned how important family time was, eating at a table together etc and to cut down on time spent on social media etc.  I made a conscious decision this summer to cut down on my phone usage and it has made a great deal of difference.

Anyhow, I digress from the latest Daring Cardmakers challenge which has been set by my friend Dawn.  Sadly she lost he father to cancer recently and wanted to set this challenge to honour his memory in which you can make a card for a loved one or to say you are thinking of someone.

I opted for a sympathy card as I always find them so difficult to do especially at the time I need them so thought I'd make this one for Dawn to say I was thinking of her at this very difficult time.

For this card I decided I wanted to use flowers and a preloved sentiment from a set I'd bought some time ago.  I stamped the flowers on grey card and coloured in with my Chameleon pencils before fussy cutting.  After I decided on the placement of the elements I thought there was too much white space so I took out a CrafTangles stencil and my distress inks to make a subtle background.

I hope you'll join in with the challenge and I will be back with another blog post tomorrow so not long to go!

Enjoy your day!
