My Dad The Superhero! - A Set of Father's Day Cards

Happy Monday!

How was your weekend?  I had a very crafty one, spending yesterday demonstrating and meeting some lovely fellow crafters.  This Sunday I will be deminstrating at The Range in Romford from 11am.

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog today and being as Father's Day is just around the corner I thought I'd better get some cards made.  What better stamp set to use than the CrafTangles Super Boys stamp and die set?!  It was one of my very first sets I got when I joined the DT.  To this day it's a set I go back to time and time again.

I began by stamping, die cutting and colouring all the images using my Chameleon pens and colour tops.  For my first card I used a skyline stencil to make the background and added some yellow for the lights.

Next up I got out some glitter card as I felt the black needed a bit of a lift - as if I need an excuse to get out the glitter! Ha!

For my final card I opted for a bright background using die cuts.  I think this is a bright happy card, don't you?

There's a more in depth tutorial over on the CrafTangles blog HERE.  I hope to be back on Friday but no promises as I have a jam packed week ahead of me!

Have a lovely week whatever you do,

Creating Cards for Children with CrafTangles Products

Happy Wednesday!

The sun is out even though it's chilly and I've just done a quick shop.  I've got my to do list ready to go through after I've sorted this blog post.  Having a quick coffee before I begin!

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog today with a trio of cards I made with children in mind, although there is nothing stopping me from giving them to an adult! Haha!

For the first card I've created a rainbow background using a star stencil and distress inks.  I've then stamped and fussy cut the image of the girl with an umbrella and added a sentiment.

Next up, I concentrated on the background for this one by using distress inks with the stencil and a spritz of water.  Im pleased with how the waves came out.

I then framed the scene using circle nesting dies to create a frame.  I added stamped and die cut images, finishing with sequins to embellish.

Finally, a card using one of my all time favourite stamp and die sets.  I decided I wanted to make the background the focus so I used my distress inks again but I wanted the number 5 to stand out as it was for a 5 year old so inked all those in red.

I stamped the image but decide against colouring to keep the main focus on the background.  I think it works don't you?

All being well I shall be back on Friday with another blog post.

Enjoy the rest of the week,

Masked Magic - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

A hot off the press creation to share today.  I'd done the stamping on Wednesday but smudged the ink as I couldn't wait and as I was at work yesterday I had to start all over again this morning!

Natty has set the challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers today and she's asked for masking of some sort.

I quite like the use of a stamp and die set to mask an image.  You basically use the die cut as a mask and then lift it off and stamp the image in it's place after you've created your background.  In my case I stamped lots of 'Bams' then added some distress ink to make the superhero pop a little.

I very rarely do one layer stamping but I think with the masking of the image it doesn't look so flat.  I may do more of these as my youngest has many birthday party invites..........

Right, I had better get on as I have a number of projects to complete along with a backlog of washing.  Oh and the dishwasher is being fixed today - Hooray!!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

CrafTangles Super Boys and Backgrounds

Greetings!

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog HERE using one of my favourite stamp and die sets - Super Boys.

I wanted to try out different backgrounds so for my first make I opted for a sunburst effect, after all, Superheroes do fly through the air don't they?! I added clouds, some glittery and on the plain one I stamped the sentiment on.

For my second make I got my Distress Oxides out, I say I got them out but they've never actually made it into the cupboard since the last time I used them..........!

As the inks are chalky they give a brilliant smoky effect which works really well through stencils on black card, giving a crisp image.

I used my Zig pens to colour in the image again and heat embossed the sentiment.  I enjoyed making the superhero different from the norm, in particular the hair which I think gives a fun effect.

See you again on Friday!

CrafTangles Super Boy Card and Gift In One

Happy Thursday!

I'm blogging for CrafTangles today using their Super Boys Stamp and Die set.  I decided to make a card with a keepsake.  Both my boys love reading, the eldest often has more than one book on the go at a time!  So, I thought I'd make a bookmark that would slot into the card.

This is the card I made and I have a brief tutorial HERE if you're interested in seeing how I made it.

This is the bookmark that slots into the card:

I really enjoyed making this - the dies made cutting out the images so quick and easy.  I'm going to make a batch over the summer holidays as I'm sure they'll be well received on birthdays.  In fact, I might even get the boys to join me and colour in the images!

Happy Crafting!
