Cut It Up - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's getting more and more emotional as we near the end of term with the boys both leaving to go to new schools.  This week we went to the end of year school play which was fabulous!  More events to come over the next couple of weeks.

Dawn has set the challenge this week and she has asked to see you use your beautiful designer papers in use.  Being a paper lover this challenge was right up my street and I decided to share a card made for a commission.  The customer wanted a card for her daughter that incorporated how special she was using desciptive words.

I used a Craftwork cards pad for this and used different papers from the pad to punch out hexagons which I then arranged on my page.  I cut the descriptive sentiments from another Craftwork Cards pad and backed onto card.  I am very pleased to report both Mum and daughter were very happy with the card.

You can find a lot more inspiration on the challenge HERE and I look forward to seeing what you can come up with as we all have lots of paper pads I'm sure!

I'm looking forward to a relaxing Sunday this week as my current cycle of demos has ended.  The weather is certainly on a summer roll so I'm hoping to get bits done in the garden.

Have a great weekend!

Split Cards Using CrafTangles Vintage Rosette Paper Pad

Happy Weekend!

At this time of year I always have a large number of thank you cards stored as the school year is coming to an end and not only do I thank the teachers but there are many others I thank on behalf of the boys.  I've taken the opportunity to make a set using the CrafTangles Vintage Rosette paper pad.

Split cards were one of the first types of cards I mastered when I began cardmaking.  I'm sharing a variation on this post. The first is card is a traditional split card where you cut out the middle of a sheet of paper and stick the top and bottom parts back on.  I've added a contrasting colour card in the middle and a topper cut from the paper pad.

To finish I've added glitter nuvo drops and a die cut sentiment.

Next up I've used the same principle as my first card only the split is vertical, slimmer and to the left of my card.

I've added a doily and matt and layered a topper before adding a die cut sentiment and some nuvo drops to finish.

For my final card I have made the split diagonal and I customised the paper by stamping thanks on it!

I fussy cut one of the flower arrangements from the pad and went around it with ink then added some crystal nuvo drops that give the effect of water drops.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend,

Midsummer's Day - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

A bright start to the day my end - it's been really odd weather of late as it's muggy but wet.  I've had not 1 but 2 men down over the week with man flu.  One has gone back to school today.

Over on the Daring Cardmakers, Nat has chosen the Challenge and she has opted to celebrate the longest day in the northern hemisphere which happens to be today - Midsummer's Day.  Bascially she'd like to see anything summer related on a card with extra points if it's related to the Midsummer Night's Dream play.

I've gone bold and bright with my creation which shouts summer to me with the blue skies, sunshine and ice cream that I associate with summer the most.

I've used nuvo drops on the ice cream and inside the speech bubble.  The lion is coloured in with my Chameleon pens and fussy cut.  You can see more inspiration from my team mates HERE and I hope you'll join in with this fun challenge.

Another packed weekend, we are going to an induction at my eldest son's secondary school tomorrow and I have my last Trimcraft demo of the season on Sunday at The Range in Hemel Hempstead.

See you again tomorrow,

Come Fly WIth Me - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

I realise I've been a little quiet on my blog and social media in general and that's because I have a lot of work on coupled with the final term of the school year so I have got my head down, trying not to get too distracted.

I suppose this blog post ought to come with a warning for anyone that thinks it is too early to share a Christmas card!  I have to admit it does feel a little odd making Christmas cards when it's lovely and sunny outside but as the weathr our end has been dull, wet and miserable so it's not made any difference to me and I've happily transported myself to all things festive and shiny!

Svenja has chosen the Daring Cardmakers challenge this week and wants to see anything that flies on your cards.  I have chosen a robin but decided on non traditional colours.  Glitter and mirri card makes it all the more festive.

Here's a close up of the little robin with all the die cut detail - I admit I wasn't sure if it would work in a colour other than brown but I think I've pulled it off!  The gem for the eye adds an additional sprakle!

This card happens to be one of a few that will be aired later this morning on the Sweet Dixie Christmas Show on Create & Craft at 2pm.  The die sets are reasonably priced and I can see them being a staple in my personal Christmas card making.

My weekend is a mad one with my teaching starting again coupled with the school summer fete tomorrow and then I have my first Trimcraft demo at The Range in Stevenage on Sunday from 11am.

Have a wonderful weekend whatever you do,

Father's Day Card - CrafTangles June Challenge Inspiration

Happy Wednesday!

I rarely schedule posts but I have on this occassion as I will be celebrating the festival of Eid with my family!  Eid is celebrated to mark the end of the month of fasting for Muslims.  We're very much looking forward to celebrating with family we don't see very often.

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog today with some inspiration for the June challenge which has an Anything Goes theme.

I love vibrant colours and the latest Simon Hurley inks were what I used for the coloured sentiments. I decided to combine them with CrafTangles stamps and liquid water colour for the spots on the dogs.

I have a step by step photo tutorial over on the CrafTangles blog HERE if you're interested in learning more.  I hope you'll join in too!

After many weeks of working weekends I have one off before my final Trimcraft demos in Stevenage on 16 June and Hemel Hempstead on 23 June.

See you again soon,
