Trim The Tree - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

I celebrated my birthday earlier in the week and had company as my little one was off school with a rather bad cold.  We ended up getting a takeaway as a treat and cake to finish!

The Daring Cardmakers are asking us to 'Trim the Tree' this week and I have a number of trees on my creation this week from the Dovecraft Winter Wonderland paper pad.

As well as the papers this collection has a pad of toppers and lots of additional bits so you don't have to think about what to use as it's all there for you.  I also used washi tape at the bottom, the blue one is also from the same collection.

You can see lots more inspiration from the rest of the DT HERE and it would be lovely to see your creations if you have one to add.

Have a lovely weekend,

Shabneez

Mail Art - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's been a very productive week with the addition of my first virtual parents evening.  Now in theory, this would be a good idea only the sound on my laptop decided not to work and a few sticky notes from the teacher later, I logged in again using my phone!!!

Over on the Daring Cardmakers, Svenja informs us that it is World Post Day and she would like to see anything related to mail art.  I have interpreted this challenge in a basic fashion and opted to use my bee stamps which includes one that is holding a letter.

I hadn't made a circular card in a while nor an eclipse so I decided to combine the two!  I made the background with my Beautiful Blender brushes, Distress Oxide inks and a stencil.

My bees were stamped, coloured with Chameleon pens and die cut then stuck around the card.

You can see lots more inspiration from my fellow Design Team members HERE and I hope you'll join in!

Lucky For Some - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Happy Friday 13th!!!!

Phew! I cut it fine this week as I've had the most Mothers' Day card orders ever so have been super busy with those.

So tell me are you superstitious?  I'm not in the slightest!  The Daring Cardmakers are balancing unlucky Friday 13th with the luck of the Irish as it's St Patrick's Day on Tuesday.  I had to research this one and found out in my studies that bamboo is lucky in the Chinese culture.  Luckily (Ha!) I had the perfect stamp set to fit the challenge!

I used the Time for Tea Designs Pandemonium stamp and die set along with a couple of die sets.

I cut and coloured lots of bamboo and leaves with my Chameleon markers and as a background I used the Time for Tea Quilted Square Die set which makes for the perfect backdrop for the panda.

You can see lots more inspiration and join in with the challenge HERE.  If you fancy any of the products I've used you can get 10% off using my code T4TSHABNEEZ10 at checkout on Time for Tea Designs.

Something New - Daring Card Makers Challenge

Happy Friday!

This week the Daring Cardmakers were tasked with creating a card using a new technique, fold or something we haven't done before.

When I first started crafting, some 15 years ago, I bought everything I needed to heat emboss. I tried it, didn't like it and sold everything! Over the past few months I've been buying bits and pieces as I really wanted to have another go. You'll be pleased to know I love it!

So, for my inspirational post I decided to use heat embossing together with something else I hadn't tried before. I've had my Distress Inks for some time and use them a fair bit but I've never used them with water, so I did! Loved the effect!

I hope you'll have a look at the other inspirational cards here and have a go at something new yourself!

Enjoy your weekend,
Shabneez

January Elemental Inspiration - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Happy Friday!
The first Daring Cardmakers Challenge every month is an Elemental challenge in which you have to pick 3 elements from a picture. This is the photo we had to choose elements from:

So, the elements I chose for my card were the heart, the wood grain background and 3 of the colours to make this:

I'm still making baby cards and gifts for friends and family. This is one I made for my cousin who had first baby, a beautiful baby girl.  I'm on a stash busting mission as well so used scraps of paper that I cut to size and added Kanban toppers from a sheet as well as some rub ons for the sentiments.  I quite like baby cards in non traditional colours, don't you?

You can find lots more inspiration for the challenge here.

Enjoy your weekend,

Holiday Tag And Humans - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Happy Friday!

A beautiful sunny start to the day. I've got my 4 year old's Christmas play to go to this afternoon. When I asked him what character he would be playing, he replied "a human"!!!! Wonder if it was a choice between humans and aliens?! It seems early for a Christmas play to me but I think there are a lot of festive activities to fit in before the end of term.

On to my inspirational tag for the Daring Card Makers Challenge this week. It's the second of the 'Step Away From The Cards' challenges, the first being bags and boxes a couple of weeks ago. This time it's creating gift tags.

I used a ready made tag with an aperture I had in my stash and used the Sizzix dies I got in the sale a couple of months ago. At the time I thought I'd spent too much (as you do) but they're worth it as I've used them a lot (that's my justification in any case!).

To embellish the tag I used felt in 2 different colours for the holly which I die cut and added painted wooden berries.  A little bling on the snowflakes and twine completed it. Both the lime green and white are glitter card although you can't see from the photo as well.

I hope that you'll join in with the challenge here and see the other creations made by the Design Team.

Enjoy your weekend,
