Let's Go Wild - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy February!

You'll be pleased to hear we are all better now. Well, all except my little one who sadly has Covid.  It appears more than half his class have it.  Thankfully his symptoms have been mild and he's been doing school work online as well as learning to knit.

It's the first Friday in February so time for an elemental challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers.

I am drawn towards bright and colourful creations at the moment and really enjoyed putting this one together.  I used the Dovecraft Finding Paradise Paper Pad and the elements that come with it to make my card.  The card has already made it's way to it's recipient!

Below is the moodboard from which you choose any 3 elements or more - colours count as 1.  I used the colours, circles and leaves.

Have a lovely weekend and see you next week,

Trim The Tree - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

I celebrated my birthday earlier in the week and had company as my little one was off school with a rather bad cold.  We ended up getting a takeaway as a treat and cake to finish!

The Daring Cardmakers are asking us to 'Trim the Tree' this week and I have a number of trees on my creation this week from the Dovecraft Winter Wonderland paper pad.

As well as the papers this collection has a pad of toppers and lots of additional bits so you don't have to think about what to use as it's all there for you.  I also used washi tape at the bottom, the blue one is also from the same collection.

You can see lots more inspiration from the rest of the DT HERE and it would be lovely to see your creations if you have one to add.

Have a lovely weekend,

Shabneez

December Elemental Challenge - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy December!

My first post of the month is a festive one - well it is December!  It's a big card as well, an 8x8" square for the Daring Cardmakers December Elemental Challenge.

I've used papers from the new First Edition Arctic Wonder pad.  I cut one into a frame and added the tree scene behind it.

I added glitter die cut baubles, bows and a sentiment to finish.

Below is the image from which you have to pick at least 3 elements.  I chose the colours, the baubles, the wood and the pine trees.  You can see lots more inspiration from the rest of the Design Team HERE and I hope you'll join in.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and see you again next week!

Jolly Holly-Days - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

I finally completed my first personal Christmas card of the year.  It was helpful that the Daring Cardmaker challenges are festive throughout November and December.

The majority of items I used are from the latest Craftlabel Christmas release.  I began with a sheet of paper from the Twelve Days of Christmas Paper Pad and added some distress oxide on the edges.  I then die cut a circle from red card, used distress oxide on the edges and heat embossed the sentiment in white.  I stuck this on a white die cut scallop circle.

To finish I added a couple of holly shapes which are just so beautiful.  I am a fan of bling and these are just so beautiful.  You'll be seeing more on my creations for sure!

You can see lots more inspiration from the rest of the Design Team HERE and I hope you'll join in.

Have a lovely weekend!

Bon Voyage - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

I’ve been having a break from my blog and social media for some well earned family time before the boys go back to school.

I’m just popping in to share my post for the latest Daring Cardmakers travel themed challenge.

I used the First Edition Bon Voyage paper pad and the WRMK Alphabet Word Punchboard to create the pun.  The card was actually made for my brother's birthday as he has travelled across the pond after 2 years to see us - first time after COVID.  We are having so much fun with the family.

You can see lots more inspiration on the blog HERE and I hope you'll join in!

Have a great long weekend,

Summer Home Decor Vinyl Project - Collaboration With Craftlabel

Happy Wednesday!

With the summer holidays looming I thought I would share a project that can be done with children, either with some help, or if they are old enough, then they can have a go themselves!  The best part is they can hang it up for everyone to see or even make them as gifts!

I used an embroidery hoop as a frame and painted it with white acrylic paint.  It did not take long to dry at all.  I would recommend painting one side first, letting it dry, and then painting the other side as it can get quite messy otherwise.

For the focal point I used my trusty Cricut and some of the First Edition Digital SVG files.  These are incredibly versatile as they can be resized according to the size of your frame.

I wanted a summer themed project and used the sun and ‘sunshine’ sentiment from the Baby & Children Digital set, clouds and raindrops from the Nature Digital set and ‘Hello’ from the Sentiments Digital set.  These were just downloaded onto my Cricut and I then resized to fit my frame.

I stuck all the vinyl elements onto Dovecraft Heat Resistant Acetate, which is clear, and the perfect thickness.  I then used a hot glue gun to adhere the embroidery hoop to the acetate.  I cut off the excess acetate that was overlapping the hoop with a pair of scissors.

I thought the frame needed a little something additional; leading me to cut out several raindrops using the First Edition Nature Digital set in both dark and light blue vinyl.  I cut 3 lengths of bakers twine and secured them on to my embroidery hoop.  I stuck a raindrop on one side then turned it over and stuck another on the other side so you don’t even need any glue!  I did that with all 7 raindrops.

To finish the project I added some more bakers twine to the top and knotted it so you can hang it with pride!

Why not take inspiration from this project and have a go in the summer holidays!

Flamingo! - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's been a wonderful week with blue skies and glorious sunshine.  We now have rain but the garden certainly needs it!  Just as well as the boys have been on half term and have enjoyed playing in the garden with their water guns.  One has been revising for his forthcoming exams as well.

The Daring Cardmakers have a wonderful summer themed elemental challenge this week and I got out my Dovecraft Finding Paradise Paper Pad again.  The co-ordinating elements make life so much easier!

I have a thing for circles.  You may have noticed.  I love using them and this card is no exception!  I thought it would be fun to have the flamingo say 'Yay' as it's on the washi tape and goes well with the celebratory theme of the card.

Here is some further information on the challenge together with the image from which I have chosen the colours, the flamingo and wording.  You can see lots more inspiration from the rest of the DT HERE.

I'm going to make the most of the remaining half term holiday before the finale of the summer terms begins!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Tropical Paradise - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

I took a week off last week as we were celebrating the festival of Eid which comes after the Islamic month of fasting.  I think I have got into the habit of blogging so miss it when I am away!

The Daring Cardmakers have gone all tropical this week which is a good thing as the weather our end is nothing but dull and rainy with some hail and sleet thrown in for good measure!

I used the brand new Dovecraft Finding Paradise paper pad and embellishments for my card which work so well together and I think are ideal for this challenge.

I also have a confession to make as I bought a new tool -  the We R Memory Keepers Word Punchboard as it is on offer at Create & Craft for a fabulous price so treated myself!  It's a great tool and so easy to use so look out for more projects with it soon.

You can see lots more tropical themes cards from my fellow DT HERE and I hope you'll join in!

Enjoy your weekend - my little one has his first birthday party to go to following COVID, a small one with just a few classmates.

See you next week,
Shabneez
